Luckily she allows Ping and Danzi to travel on her boat with her, Ping enjoys their time but Danzi has to stay in the cabin because it drains his energy to transform as a human. He asked Ping to sew up his torn wing for it to heal.ĭanzi decides to travel on the river for a while because of it's speed so Ping has to go speak to all of the boatmen and they all deny so she tries the last boat which is manned by a woman. Ping then convinces him to make it rain which is no small task, he nearly destroys his already torn wing in the process! He then plunged into the lake and Ping had to drag his unconscious body to the shore and up the bank so he wouldn't drown. Danzi then has to come to the rescue, he dives into the lake and pulls Ping out before she drowned. When they spend the night near a lake where some peasants are making a sacrifice for rain to a dragon they believe to be in a lake, Ping gets turned into the sacrifice. They lock Danzi and Ping up in a pig sty and Ping devises a plan to escape, which when put into action works. Ping learns a lot in the markets, before she runs into the dragon hunter Dao. Danzi decides they leave Chang'an quickly after the encounter.Īfter a days traveling they stay in a small town where they, again, run into Diao who convinces they townsfolk that Ping is an evil sorceress and Danzi a dragon. He also gives Danzi some money, Danzi asks Ping to take some of the money and buy a couple of things they need and anything else she wants.
They stay in the capital city of Chang'an with Danzi's old friend Wang Cao who helps restore the health of Danzi and the dragon stone. They spend most of their nights traveling infront of a fire on the ground of the bush surrounding the path they travel on. They stay the night with some kind peasants who give them food and Ping some nicer, warmer clothing. Transforming drains alot of energy from Danzi so he tries to do it as little as possible.
These things would slow down their journey greatly. He has to transform himself into other things when around other people because otherwise he would scare them, and news of the sighting would probably spread around China informing any dragon hunters who might want to kill a dragon. Whilst traveling Danzi has to explain many things to Ping because she never got to learn certsain things in her isolation at Huangling, he also tells her things the average person wouldn't know. Whilst leaving Danzi crashes into a mountain and injures his wing so he can't fly, this slows down the pace at which they can move greatly and therefore making their journey longer. They stay here for about a day before they leave to start their journey. When Danzi escapes from Huangling he is the only imperial dragon left, he manages to fly to Huangling mountain with the Ping.
